In 2012 and 2013, All Together Now ran a very successful project to reduce everyday racism in Parramatta. Not only did it achieve measurable social outcomes, it was the winner of three awards including the Jim Samios Memorial Award for the most outstanding multicultural project in NSW in 2013.
This project, called One Parramatta, was based on research data from the Challenging Racism project at the University of Western Sydney, that showed 1 in 3 people who had experienced racism in Parramatta did so while they were shopping or eating out – a statistic that was much higher that the NSW and national average.
One Parramatta was later adopted by the Salvation Army in Ryde, who is now facilitating a version of this project together with Macquarie University and Ryde Council.
